Getting Unshackled From Your Business

I remember being at a workshop for entrepreneurs many years ago. The facilitator asked everybody in the room:

How many of you can afford to take a vacation for a week?

Pretty much everybody raised their hand.

They continued….

How many of you have businesses that enabled you to take trips to places you've always wanted to go…Paris, Lisbon, Rome, Maui, etc.?

Again, many people in the room raised their hands.

Next question:

How many of you were working while you were there?

Doh!

I was so grateful to have been to both Maui and Paris. I still am. But I remember thinking how lucky I was to work from a resort on the beach in Hawaii while my family slept. I was tied to my business 🙁

This workshop sent me on a path towards addressing this issue…that prior to this workshop, I did not see as an issue. Being tied to my business also meant I was in the weeds with many things. That took away time from visionary work, business development and relationship building.

Eventually, I remember going to Japan for several weeks and I answered a single email throughout the trip. My exec team was running my business. This was amazing growth!

This was not an overnight process, but there is a method to get you out of the weeds that requires people, operations and delegation.

The last item in that list, delegation, can be one of the most challenging for most business owners.

I've created a foundational process called the Catalyst Checkpoint, which is a springboard for business owners to move towards freedom.

Looking for freedom, DM me and we can chat.

Who's running your business?

How free are you?
