Parent to Parent Peers for Helping Kids

Today I want to talk about a company that I feel very honored to have been asked to be a board member as a technical advisor of, and that company is called OPLM or Other Parents Like Me.

Other Parents Like Me is an online parent to parent support community designed for parents of teens and young adults struggling with mental health issues.

What I love about this story is it’s two entrepreneurs, who had a really unwelcome event come into their lives;

Children with substance abuse and mental health issues;

Who found that there was little support for parents who are trying to support their kids in dealing with these complex and traumatic issues.

Instead of accepting the status quo, they decided to do something about it!

The founders, Casie Fariello and Liz Reitman created OPLM to fill this critical space, to provide that support for parents to better help their children.

It's so inspiring to see the work that the founders are doing and the impact that they're already having. They've only been around for a couple of years and they already have members in 50 states in 11 countries worldwide.

They obviously are striking a nerve…people need this.

I have a 14 year old son myself and I’m part of the Challenge Success Program at our local school, so the OPLM mission is close to my heart.

[Note: Challenge Success is a program out of Stanford University that partners with school communities to elevate student voice and implement research-based, equity-centered strategies that improve well-being, engagement, and belonging for all K-12 students. https://lnkd.in/eef-zDBG]

I’m feeling so grateful to be part of the entrepreneurial community and see how much of a positive impact we can have, making a difference and supporting each other.

Please take a minute and check out the amazing work that Casie and Liz are doing at OPLM!

Thank you
